Just as it has in years past, the National Retail Federation recently released its list of the globe’s top retailers.
The Top Five saw no change from 2013-2014, not surprising since the top five hasn’t seen much change for about a decade. The big news comes from Amazon at number nine. With its two-spot improvement from 11 to 9, Amazon becomes the first pure-play e-retailer to make it in the top 10. Luckily, brick-and-mortar stores have a firm grip at the top and have displayed sufficient staying power throughout the emergence of the e-commerce movement, and that won’t change anytime soon. However, we can expect to see more and more e-commerce merchants making their way up the list over the next few years.
